Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sugaring?
Sugaring hair removal is a natural method of removing hair using a paste made from sugar,
lemon, and water. The paste is applied to the skin and quickly removed, taking the hair
with it. It’s a gentler alternative to waxing, with less irritation and long-lasting results.
Why Should I Choose Sugaring Over Waxing?
Choosing sugaring over waxing offers a gentler, more natural approach to hair removal. Sugaring uses a paste made from natural ingredients. These ingredients are sugar, lemons, and water, which is less likely to irritate the skin compared to chemical- based wax. Since the paste only adheres to the hair, not the skin, it reduces the risk of irritation, redness, and discomfort. Sugaring also removes the hair in the natural direction of growth. This helps minimize ingrown hairs, while providing long-lasting results.
Additionally, sugaring exfoliates the skin, leaving it smooth and soft after your service. Sugaring is for those seeking a more comfortable, effective, and eco-friendly option.
Can I get sugared while on my period?
Yes! You will need to come to your appointment with a clean tampon or menstrual cup. Your skin is more sensitive during your menstrual cycle due to hormones. We recommend taking an over the counter pain reliever 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.
Can I get sugared while I’m pregnant?
Yes! Every pregnancy is different and we recommend consulting with your healthcare provider beforehand.
How do I prepare for my first Brazilian sugaring?
The best way to prepare for your first Brazilian sugaring is to have at least 3-4 weeks worth of growth. Refrain from alcohol, caffeine, smoking cannabis, and exfoliating the day of your appointment. You can take OTC pain relievers 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment to help with any discomfort. Lastly, wear loose-fitting clothing and cotton underwear to allow your skin to breathe.
How long does my hair need to be to get sugared?
Please allow 3-4 weeks worth of hair growth for the best results.
What’s the 24-48 hour rule post-sugaring?
Refrain from the gym, pool, sauna, direct sunlight, and any physical activity that will cause sweat the first 24-48 hours after sugaring. Keeping your skin dry and protected is essential for your skin to heal properly.
Are extra guest allowed inside the treatment room?
No extra guest are not allowed in the treatment room. There is a waiting area located in the front of the salon.
Does sugaring hurt?
Sugaring can cause some discomfort, especially if it’s your first time or if you’re sensitive to hair removal. The pain level varies depending on your pain tolerance, the area being treated, and how long you’ve been waxing or sugaring. If you’re concerned about discomfort, you may take an over-the-counter pain reliever 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.
How often should I get sugared?
We recommend getting sugared every 4-6 weeks depending on the area. Every client has a different hair growth cycle and hair type.
